Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine is accepting applications for our 2025-2028 residency position

The Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine is accepting applications for our 2025-2028 residency position (7/14/25-7/15/28). Candidates must hold a DVM, VMD, or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school and must have completed a rotating internship. The successful candidate will join two faculty members, another resident, and two technicians on our busy ophthalmology service. We see a wide variety of small animal, large animal, exotics, and wildlife patients across our three hospitals on the Cummings campus. Residents play a key role in teaching of interns and veterinary students. Salary for the first year is $50,000 plus benefits, with increases in subsequent years. Candidates should submit a letter of intent, curriculum vitae, and a PDF of their veterinary school transcript to stephanie.pumphrey@tufts.edu. Candidates should also solicit 3-4 letters of recommendation to be sent directly to Dr. Pumphrey. All materials must be received by 12 noon EST on Monday November 11, 2024. Offers will be made in accordance with ABVO ORCA guidelines (offers to be made at noon EST on Monday, January 27, 2025). Applicants without US citizenship or current work authorization must be of exceptional caliber to be considered as the current visa situation has made processing difficult and frequently delays the start of the program.

An offer of residency is contingent upon providing verification of your graduation from veterinary school and identity and eligibility to work in the United States at the time of hire. Residents may apply for the Tufts Practitioners in Veterinary Medicine license or a Massachusetts Veterinary Medicine license. The Tufts Practitioners in Veterinary Medicine license has no cost to the applicant, and permits practicing only under the auspices of Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. If applicant has held a Massachusetts Veterinary Medicine license at any time, it must be reinstated, and applicant is not eligible for the Tufts Practitioner license. Institutional license forms will be provided to you by Cummings School upon notification of a match. If you are selected for a position at Cummings School, you must agree-as a future employee--to a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) check of your personal information. A PERSONAL (NOT institutional) email address is required on your application to receive communications prior to employment.
