Louisiana State University Residency in Comparative Ophthalmology
The comparative ophthalmology department at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine is seeking highly motivated applicants for the position of American Board of Veterinary Ophthalmology-approved residency training program. The duration of this position is three years. The successful applicant will join a team of two board-certified ophthalmology faculty, one ABVO approved second year resident and three dedicated ophthalmology nurses.
Our service has a high case load which includes a wide variety of species from the small animal hospital (dogs, cats, birds, small mammals and laboratory animals), large animal hospital (horses, food animals and camelids), and the wildlife department (with raptor birds predominating). Occasionally, consultations are requested at the local zoos and aquariums. The program is mainly clinical, but the resident will also participate in scholarly activities such as basic, applied, or clinical research.
A competitive salary will be offered, and in addition, the resident (and their eligible dependents) qualifies for the Louisiana State University Baton Rouge health insurance and benefits.
The role is based at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Baton Rouge is Louisiana’s “Capital City” and the hub of all things Louisiana. Deadlines: Applications due November 11th, 2024, at noon, following ORCA rules
Requirements:
Applicants need to have a DVM or equivalent and passed the NAVLE/ECFVG
Applicants must have successfully completed a one-year rotating internship or an equivalent amount of practice experience.
