One year internship at BLISS Animal Eye Care in beautiful Southern Oregon.

July 14th, 2025, to July 17th, 2026

Open to veterinarians who have finished a small animal rotating internship or have 5 years of general practice experience who may be interested in more focused training within Ophthalmology or wish to be prepared for an ophthalmology residency. Interns will participate in a private practice, high volume, strictly ophthalmology hospital.

As an intern at BLISS Animal Eye Care, you will be responsible for providing and assisting with case management of inpatient, outpatient, and farm/zoo calls under the guidance and supervision of a board-certified ophthalmologist. You will work in clinic 4 days (M-Th) and 1 day (F) for projects, emergency cases, and additional study time per week.  Some weekend commitments will be necessary rarely for the care of post operative patients, emergencies, and research projects.  The goal of this ophthalmology internship is to prepare you for a future residency role or to transition into a practice with a strong ophthalmology knowledge base and skill set.

  • You will examine and manage a variety of small animal, equine, and exotic animals. 

  • You will gain skills in performing slit lamp examinations, performing specialized ocular diagnostic testing, external photography, and fundoscopy.

  • You will have the opportunity to administer and monitor general anesthesia in small animal patients as well as surgically prep and assist with surgical procedures

  • Topic Rounds Weekly

  • Participate in additional rounds: Journal Club, Surgery Labs, etc.  

  • You will have support and encouragement to work on a self-guided case study. You will have the opportunity to join us in our established ongoing research projects.

  • You will have the ability to attend the ACVO conference annually.

Compensation of $40,000/ year plus health care benefits, CE allowance & PTO.
