Mummified Bird at Cornell University

ACVO Member, Dr. Eric Ledbetter, of Cornell University had the rare opportunity to use his microsurgical techniques and instruments (such as a miniature endoscope) to extract bone and tissue of a mummified bird through a tiny preexisting hole in the linen of the mummified bird's linen. The results from this extraction will be compared to other ibis DNA samples to determine the lineage of Cornell's mummified bird's lineage and region of where it lived!

It's not every day that one gets to examine a >2,000 year old bird's eyes!
